Volunteering Centres consult with the Future for Local Government

Today we joined Volunteering New Zealand and other Volunteer Centres from around the country to discuss how volunteering will feature in with the recommendations of the Future for Local Government Panel, who is preparing a draft report to government which will be available in October 2022.

We spoke about the relationships that Volunteer Centres have with their Councils across the country, and the vital role volunteers play in delivering many social benefits.

Many Volunteer Centres are given community grants to run specific projects on behalf of Councils. We found that 98% of New Zealand's population is served by a Volunteer Centre.
